We are so blessed to have a pastor with a high view of Scripture, a passion to teach it, and a genuine love for his flock. Whatever season of life we find ourselves in, whether it's a time of peace or one of hard providence, having a shepherd who seeks to point us Heavenward is one of the excellent gifts Christ gives to His church. John recently preached a really good message from Philippians 4:4-7 on the subject of anxiety entitled: "5 Marks of Spritual Stability". He reminds us that the remedy for a troubled heart can be found only in Christ, and then lays out 5 practical applications for obtaining peace of mind.

I amen your post, Diane. Thank God for the godly men He has raised up to shepherd His flock.
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to have a Godly, Bible based preacher! Our little church doesn't; he's a good man, maybe a good Christian man, but he's not Biblical and that's worrisome to me. When we first started going there, that wasn't as apparent as it is now. I'm not willing to find another church as Dave, my husband, has cancer and the little country church membership has enfolded us into their midst. That's worth being fed by Alistair Begg, Michael Youssef and others on XM radio in the mornings and reading the Bible after.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for visiting Thistle Cove Farm and following; you bless me by your presence.
Not to many years ago most pastors in the USA had high view of Scripture. Sadly, nowadays it's becoming rare :-( Many false teachers are in the pulpits of our land in these last days. They act like angels of light but they are really devils.

Diane,
ReplyDeleteI love your first words...."high view of Scripture, a passion to teach it, and a genuine love for his flock." What a gift from the Lord! We've just recently been blessed with a Pastor for our small church, and I'm thankful to say I could use your very words to describe him. I was in awe when he decided to come to our little church body. It was just another reminder of the goodness of God.
